Tunisia's women's volleyball team opened their 2026 African Nations Championship Zone 1 qualifying campaign with a win over Algeria on Sunday 28 June in the Moroccan city of Meknès.

The three-nation round-robin tournament — involving Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco — serves as a regional qualifier for the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Women's African Nations Championship, scheduled for 21 August to 6 September 2026. Kenya are the defending champions and the most successful nation in the competition's history with 10 titles.

Tunisia has been in Morocco to take part in the Zone 1 qualifying tournament; the squad is already assured of a place at the main African Nations Championship regardless of the results in Meknès.

The qualifiers are being contested by Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco in a home-and-away format. Tunisia face Morocco on Monday 29 June, before the return legs against Algeria on 1 July and Morocco on 2 July.

Placi absent as squad prepares for DRC

Head coach Camillo Placi is absent from the squad, still recovering from surgery. The Italian has not been on the bench since training resumed in June, but has prepared a work programme and follows every session by video conference.

The main championship, to be hosted by the Democratic Republic of Congo, is set for 7 to 21 September 2026. For Tunisia, the Zone 1 qualifier represents competitive preparation rather than a decisive test of their place at the tournament.
